Luggage sales have been decimated by the pandemic, but brands are optimistic that will change soon. Yeti recently launched its own line of bags to take on Samsonite and Away.  Confidence in travel is on the rise, and there is plenty of room in the category for competitors.  As the vaccine rollout continues across the globe, travel industry experts are optimistic that demand will be roaring back soon. And, as they get ready to step out on what may be their first trips in a year or more, consumers will likely be looking to stock up on new gear, spelling opportunity for brands specializing in luggage. 

Courthouse Landmark Block Development Under Review, Meetings to Come

October 28, 2020 at 11:15am Six years after redevelopment discussions began, a plan to upgrade a block of aging brick buildings in Courthouse is winding through Arlington County’s levels of review. “The Courthouse Landmark Block (2050 Wilson Blvd) is currently under review via our site plan review process,” said Jessica Margarit, the communications manager for the Department of Community Planning, Housing & Development, in an email. An online engagement opportunity focused on transportation, sustainability, community benefits and construction opened Monday and will run through Sunday. County Board consideration of the project is expected in the next few months. “The Planning Commission and County Board intend to consider this application during Winter 2020-21,” Margarit said.

Family thanks Winnipeg organization for supporting mother who died from COVID-19

  WINNIPEG It started as a way to ensure Winnipeggers in COVID-19 isolation got healthy meals and were supported. It ended up leaving a final memory to last a lifetime. Paulette Cote, her husband Peter Czehryn, and other family and friends have been running the Winnipeg Soup Fairies, using their cooking and baking skills to bring soup and some smiles to people who need them. “We feel privileged that we are able to serve these people because that allows us to go out into the community and meet people,” said Czehryn. “It’s a growing thing. We deal with one person, and we deliver soup, but it extends to their family and friends.”
